One Author, One Valley: Peter Heller, Adventure Writing & Novelist
Tuesday, October 8, North Ballroom, University Center, 7 p.m.
Peter Heller, bestselling author and adventure writer, is coming to Gunnison for two programs. Mr. Heller is the author of The Dog Stars, a post-apocalyptic novel set in 21st century western Colorado. A superflu has almost wiped out humanity, but the story’s characters find a way of reinventing their lost word and keeping hold of the things they love. Those familiar with our part of the state will recognize the towns and settings.
Mr. Heller is also an acclaimed adventure writer with articles published in Outside and National Geographic Adventure. His adventure books include Hell or High Water: Surviving Tibet’s Tsangpo River and Kook: What Surfing Taught Me about Love, Life and Catching the Perfect Wave, winner of the National Outdoor Book Award for Literature.
For this 10/08/13 program, Mr. Heller will focus on his adventure writing and the evolution of his writing career. He will also include photos from his crazy adventure trips. More details will follow soon about this program.
One Author, One Valley, Gunnison and Crested Butte’s community reading program, is sponsored by Leslie J. Savage Library, Western State Colorado University; the Gunnison County Library District; and the Friends of the Gunnison Public Library.
